It would be nice to place some restrictions on deposits/payments based on certain factors...

For example, restricting customers from placing their own deposit on an item that is overbooked. Even if we sent a contract for them to review, I think admin only should be able to overbook something.

Also, a time limit on allowing customers to place deposits through the event contract link we send when we send a contract. For example, customer requests a contract, we check availability and are good so we email them the link. Then, one day before the event, they put the deposit in and we don't know! Or, they put the deposit down after the item has been booked by another party. Try explaining your way out of that one! So, if when we send a contract and are awaiting initial deposit, if the customer is paying through the link in the email, perhaps the pay option is only valid for 12 or 24 hours, or perhaps the whole contract becomes unavailable at that time unless over-ridden by admin.

Also, an alert telling us a customer made a deposit - not just a payment - but a deposit on a new order so we can look it over would be helpful. I am only referring to the customer using the link in their email to goto the contract we sent and placing the deposit online by themselves.

I think we can add in a feature to prevent the contract link from working for them if the items are overbooked. Do you use the "prevent auto booking if event is within x days"? We could make that field also prevent the contract link from working even if the equipment is available if they are booking too near their event.

We do use that field. However, if we sent a contract at any point for their review (the system urges them to request a contract if auto-booking is disabled due to delivery type or timeframe), they can still make payments from the contract page.

Yes, I was thinking of using that same parameter to limit payments in addition to limiting payments when conflicts exist.
