How do I recover a deleted customer and their past leads?

I was trying to update a customer with new contact information for the company and deleted the old customer. When the old customer got deleted it also deleted all the past leads with that person. Is there anyway to recover this information for future reference?

We have to do some work to recover these, but we'll get it done. I suggest using the Merge utility rather than deleting a customer profile in the future. I've created a note for us to create a tool that makes it clear what the affects of deleting a customer profile does.
