Cash payments on contract page

I currently have deposits required on some events, so the event will not go into confirmed status until payment is received. I also accept cash on delivery as a payment option.
Is there a way to override the deposit once COD has been selected, allowing the booking to move into CONFIRMED status automatically?
If not, is there any way to know when a customer has opted for COD? Even when the customer has selected the COD option, there is no way for me to tell once I go back into the contract page since it doesnt get marked.

When the customer selects COD, there isn't anything actually saved to the database, it just displays instructions in text for them. Contracted events (if you haven't changed their default behavior) will move to complete if the event date passes. It's a way to indicate for you that the customer hasn't completed the typical things they need to complete. Most our users just remove the option for cash or change the instructions for it to say something like "The deposit must be paid online to confirm your event, but cash can be accepted for the remaining balance upon delivery."
