Are there any plans to add custom fields into the lead menu?

I love the option of having custom fields on the quote page, but there's an issue when customers edit their quote: The original selections blank out and don't show up on subsequent quotes.
It would be great if these options could be set permanently of the lead menu (like the Delivery, Surface and Referral fields)
