Bounced Emails

Under Consideration

Could there be an alert added somehow to a lead when their emails bounce back?

That would give us the chance to make the change ASAP to their record to get the contracts and other items emailed out on a more timely basis.

Look at my client Tracy Toler as my example, everything we sent him bounced, but until I started doing some investigation into what was up with why he wasn't responding to his stuff i found all his stuff bounced.

I just think a flag, a pop up box, some time of kick back email message or something would make it better for us to catch it before it gets to far into the process.

Thoughts???

A flag is a good idea here.

Thanks .. I think this will help many of us...

The list you just sent me was 15 bounce leads so that is a valuable piece of information so Flagging would have saved all those issues earlier than now!

Thanks

When and email bounces, how long does it take to show BOUNCED in the log?

It depends. If the server responds with something like the mailbox can't be found, it will be immediate. Most are like this. It the server we are emailing to is having connectivity issues, it can try for a day or so before giving up and returning bounced.

In thinking about adding this bounced email alert flag etc.

Depending on how the code is set up.. we would need to be able to give log some type of ignore for a bounce email once it is fixed so the alert will not keep telling us there is an issue.

maybe an ignore check box or a way to remove the bounced email from the log or something like that

The flag would be temporary so that you could remove it like the "send contract," "survey," and "autobooking initiated" flags.

right but I'm thinking about what triggers it.

if it looks in the log for bounced emails then at some point those bounced messages in the log would have to be ignored to keep the flag from tripping over and over again.

if we get the bounce message alert and correct the email address and resend and uncheck the flag, then what would keep the script from seeing the bounced message still in the log.. that is where we need to be able to mark it fixed, ignore, delete etc.

Thats what I had in mind when i was saying that
